Licensed Psychotherapist
Frequently Asked Questions
How can I schedule an appointment? Please call my office at 805-410-3297. Chances are, I may be in session, so please leave me a message and I will return your call ASAP.
What happens in the first session? The first session is an opportunity to discuss your concerns, goals, and history while deciding whether we're a good fit to work together.
Where do you provide therapy? I currently offer telehealth, virtual therapy to individuals located in California and in person appointments at my office in All services are available via HIPAA-compliant telehealth or in person in Sherman Oaks, the San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles.
How often will we meet? Most clients begin with weekly sessions, though the frequency can be adjusted based on your needs and goals.
How long does therapy last? Therapy may be short-term for a specific concern or longer-term for deeper personal growth, depending on your goals.
Do I have to know what I want to talk about? No—it's completely okay to come in unsure, and we'll figure it out together.
Will everything I say be confidential? Yes, with a few legal and ethical exceptions that will be reviewed during your first session.
How do I know if you're the right therapist for me? A strong therapeutic relationship is one of the best predictors of success, so it's important that you feel comfortable, understood, and respected.
What is your therapeutic approach? My work is primarily relational, psychodynamic, and attachment-based, while integrating evidence-based approaches such as EMDR, CBT, DBT, and parts work when appropriate.
What if I've been to therapy before and it didn't help? Every therapist and therapeutic relationship is different, and a new approach may better fit your needs.
What if I can’t use my insurance or afford your full fee? I believe finances shouldn't be the only barrier to accessing quality mental health care. If my standard fee isn't financially sustainable for you, I offer a limited number of reduced-fee appointments based on availability. I'm also happy to discuss out-of-network reimbursement and provide referrals to other trusted providers if needed.
Are you available for emergencies? I do not provide 24/7 crisis or emergency services. If you are experiencing a mental health emergency or need immediate support, please call 911, go to your nearest emergency room, or contact 988 for immediate assistance. For immediate emotional support, call the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 988, available 24/7/365. If you are an established client in crisis, you may give me a call and I will do my best to get back to you within business hours, however, I cannot guarantee a time frame. If appropriate, we may want to schedule an additional session in between our regularly scheduled sessions. We can also discuss a plan for accessing crisis resources as part of your ongoing care.
What if you are not in my insurance network? If you have out-of-network benefits, I can provide a superbill—a detailed receipt that you submit directly to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. Reimbursement amounts vary by plan, so I recommend contacting your insurance provider to ask about your out-of-network mental health benefits before beginning treatment.
What if my reason for coming to therapy doesn’t fit into your specialties? You're still welcome to reach out. While my specialties reflect the concerns I most commonly treat, many people seek therapy for issues that don't fit neatly into a single category. If it seems like we're a good fit, I'm happy to work with you. If I believe another provider would better meet your needs, I'll do my best to help connect you with appropriate resources.
